Bro. Bosco Remembered In Naming Of Leinster Schools Cup

On Tuesday October 10, came the official news that the Leinster Council had agreed to our proposal to dedicate the Leinster School’s Senior Football “A” Championship Cup in memory of Brother Bosco Mulhare.

Leinster GAA Chairman Jim Bolger said: “This Top Oil Senior A Cup has a long and proud tradition in Leinster GAA. By expanding its format to provide more games at a high-level of competition we believe it can be a crucial tool in the work we are doing to raise standards across the Province.

“In Bro. Bosco we also have someone worthy of recognition. He gave selflessly of his time and was passionate about Gaelic Games and left a positive legacy from his work with the Patrician order in Tullow, Newbridge and Ballyfin.

Bro. Bosco arrived in Newbridge and ultimately raised the standards of GAA within the school, with the annexing of the All-Ireland SFC “B” title, the catalyst for us to compete at the top level in the province from then on.

In the newly formatted competition, Patrician Newbridge have been drawn with St Mel’s College, Longford and St David’s CBS, Whitehall, Dublin.
