Congratulations to Alex O’Shea, who claimed Silver in the All-Ireland Schools Indoor Junior Boys Combined Events, in Athlone IT on Saturday October 13.
After finishing 3rd in his first event – Long Jump – where he posted 5.57; he moved to 2nd after the Hurdles.
Alex knew he had to fight hard to maintain an interest in the medals, when he competed in the next two events – Shot Putt & 200m. Remarkably, he set PB’s in both – 9,46m & 24.53secs respectively. This left him 4th overall with the 800m to come.
Again, he showed his fighting spirit, as he set himself another PB to claim the Silver medal overall.
A huge achievement for Alex & he is subsequently rewarded with a place on the Irish team, that will compete in the European Championships, in Glasgow next month.
