Meitheal '25/'26
The Meitheal programme at The Patrician Secondary School is a student-led initiative designed to help first year students feel welcome and supported as they begin their secondary school journey. Led by sixth years Ben, Daniel, Ross, Hugh, Billy, Harrison, Iggy, Eoin, Jim, Aidan, Kyle and a little extra help from Michael, Meitheal focuses on building connections, easing nerves, and creating a positive first impression of school life.
Throughout the year, we, as the Meitheal team, invited first years to take part in a variety of fun and engaging activities, including origami, quizzes, and interactive icebreakers that encourage teamwork and conversation. We also guided students on a tour of the school, helping them become familiar with classrooms, facilities, and key areas. Throughout the year, the Meitheal leaders offer reassurance and advice, sharing their own experiences and tips for settling in. This programme plays an important role in fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment where younger students feel comfortable, confident, and ready to start their new chapter.
We wish our first year groups the best on their journey in our school, we hope they have as much fun as we have. Additionally, we wish the new Meitheal team the best of luck next term. Thank you to Ms.Hickey for all the support throughout the year.
