First Year Football
From the first whistle in September to the brink of Leinster glory, this first-year group has crafted a remarkable story. Under the guidance of Mr. Reddy, Ms. Maloney, and Ms. Brown, a squad of over fifty players was forged into a force that captured the school’s imagination.The journey began at Hawkfield, where five teams showcased exceptional skill in a Kildare GAA blitz. This momentum carried into the championship, where the lads topped their group with a perfect record, securing convincing wins over Clane, Moate, and Marist Athlone. Throughout, the squad embodied true Patrician values, proving that their strength lay in unity rather than individual stars.
The campaign reached a fever pitch in the Leinster A Quarter-Final against St. Mel’s. In an electric performance, the side built a 16-point halftime lead, playing with a maturity far beyond their years to book a place in the final four.
The semi-final in February brought high drama. Trailing by six at the break, the team showed incredible character to force extra time. Though they ultimately fell by a single point, they left the field with their pride intact. Rather than dwelling on heartbreak, the players returned to spring training with renewed hunger. Their focus is now fixed on the Niall McDonnell Cup. If this group maintains its work ethic, the 2025/26 season is merely the beginning of a golden era for this squad.
Second Year Football
We started training in September and, even in the wind and rain at 8 o'clock in the morning, there was always a great turnout. As the weather got better and as the evenings got longer, we moved to College Park, where there was also a great turnout. We had a tough Leinster Championship, playing lots of great teams, but we still made the matches competitive. We now look forward to the Tralee Super 9s tournament, where we hope to do well. Thanks to Mr. Cunnane and Mr. Buckley for a great year.
