Hello, I am Sam Whelan and I am honoured to be school captain for 2026/2027. In my role as captain, I represent our student body and help to create a clear channel of communication between students and the management team. Our school community is incredibly lucky this year to have a very passionate and talented student council who will be doing their utmost to create many new opportunities for the students of our school to get involved in all aspects of school life.
Something I’d like everyone to think about this year is the idea of “Getting Involved” in our school community. Our school offers so many fabulous opportunities for our students to get involved with a whole host of extracurricular activities; whether it be sport, music, debating, chess, art, Lego, musicals, the list goes on. We assure you that if you have a passion for something, we have a club for it. I’d also like to really emphasise to younger students how important it is to take advantage of these opportunities for getting involved. There’s no better way to make friends who have similar interests as you than to join one of our school’s clubs. As well as that, we on the student council have many new initiatives and clubs we wish to introduce to our school over the next year, so watch this space!
I hope that everyone in our school community will have a fun and enjoyable year in school this year. I’ve had the privilege of spending 5 years so far in this brilliant school and I can assure you there is no better group of lads for creating a welcoming and pleasant environment. No matter what this year may throw at you, remember that you always have your schoolmates to fall back on and help you back on your feet. As the saying goes, “Ní neart go cur le chéile”.
